The occupational therapists at HealthPRO Pediatrics help children improve their sensory, cognitive, physical or motor skills in addition to addressing the social, psychological or environmental factors that may affect a child’s development.  Occupational therapy focuses on helping children become independent with daily activities such as playing, eating, dressing, practicing handwriting, or maintaining balance.

Occupational Therapy (OT) may help your child with:

  • Pre-writing skills
  • Cognitive skills
  • Sensory Integration
  • Fine motor skills – such as grasping a toy or pencil
  • Balance and coordination
  • Assessing equipment needs or adjusting equipment
  • Visual motor skills
  • Daily routines – including bathing, dressing, brushing teeth, etc.
  • Feeding techniques
  • Oral motor coordination
  • Education for caregiver and/or parent

The therapist may also identify potential areas of concern and consult with other medical or school professionals about the areas of concern or the child’s service plan.
