The occupational therapists at HealthPRO Pediatrics help children improve their sensory, cognitive, physical or motor skills in addition to addressing the social, psychological or environmental factors that may affect a child’s development. Occupational therapy focuses on helping children become independent with daily activities such as playing, eating, dressing, practicing handwriting, or maintaining balance.
Occupational Therapy (OT) may help your child with:
- Pre-writing skills
- Cognitive skills
- Sensory Integration
- Fine motor skills – such as grasping a toy or pencil
- Balance and coordination
- Assessing equipment needs or adjusting equipment
- Visual motor skills
- Daily routines – including bathing, dressing, brushing teeth, etc.
- Feeding techniques
- Oral motor coordination
- Education for caregiver and/or parent
The therapist may also identify potential areas of concern and consult with other medical or school professionals about the areas of concern or the child’s service plan.
